Susan Nilson BA (Hons) DipCABT PCBC-A
Susan Nilson is a Reuters-trained journalist with over 15 years’ experience in magazines and newspapers across Europe, Asia and the Middle East, including Gulf News in Dubai and the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong. She developed an interest in animal behavior when one of her original four rescue cats suddenly started spraying copiously around the house, and is now a qualified animal behavior consultant and trainer, having completed the Centre of Applied Pet Ethology’s advanced diploma in the practical aspects of companion animal behavior and training in 2005, with a particular focus on learning theory, advanced pet behavior therapy, physiology and motivation, counseling skills, individual animal assessment and neurophysiology. She is also a professional canine behavior consultant – accredited via the Pet Professional Accreditation Board. She currently sits on the steering committees of the Pet Professional Guild and Doggone Safe, has edited a number of industry-related books, and is press officer for the Pet Professional Guild. In 2019, she co-authored Pet Training and Behavior Consulting: A Model for Raising the Bar to Protect Professionals, Pets and Their People.
